a letter from the founder
I believe in the beautiful and the functional and approach life with this in mind. For as long as I can remember, I have been a creative person with an infinity to make with my hands and embrace what nature has to offer. As a kid I was always drawing, playing music and concocting potions. As a young mother I was drawn to learn more about the plant world and became the healer of my family, much like my mother and grandmothers were.
I have been crafting folk remedies for over 20 years and raised my family on tinctures, salves and natural beauty products we made at home.
When I got a little older I followed the path of the artist and became a graphic designer. I went on to lead huge teams in the agency world, open my own studio, start a non-profit, host international design conferences and create community through public art and giving back. I have always been lead by my dreams.
Having Make & Mary has given me the opportunity to share the love I have for holistic living, creativity, and community. In 2016, I opened up my studio and started Make & Mary with our workshop series. I wanted to create a safe place to explore the world of cannabis through heritage craft making with self-care at its root.
When I started our product line in 2017, I was using CBD for low back pain and as a way to balance out my energy. I knew the power that it held. Adding it to my formulations was a natural move. With the discovery of CBD, I became even closer to the plant. For me, it addressed my growing concerns about aging and the effects it had on my skin and well being. Since then I couldn’t imagine a day without it. Plant medicine and creative self-care is a necessity, and I believe in the synergy and magic there.
I am so happy that I have an opportunity to share it with you.
