Cleaning Your Glass Pieces
If you own any sort of glass piece from a bong, dab rig, pipe, or one-hitter, you’ve dealt with resin build-up. The nasty, smelly, staining, disgusting black and brown tar that corrodes over time especially with excessive use. If only it were as easy as running hot water through them to clean but unfortunately that’s not the case.
Keeping your pieces clean not only allows you to get the full effect of your cannabis but can also help extend the life of your glass pieces as well. Check out the following tips on how to keep things clean and fresh.
Long Term Maintenance
(For Bongs + Dab Rigs)
Add a few drops of lemon juice into the water and change the water once a week. This will help not only keep it clean but also suppressed the smell of the dreaded “Bong water”
Deep Cleaning
(For Smaller Pieces)
Step 1: Use an old glass or sauce jar. Place the piece you’re cleaning inside and make sure it fits. You will want the piece to be completely submerged.
Step 2: Add ¼ Cup of Pure Acetone and 1 TBSP Dish Soap. Add the piece to the mixture and fill the jar with boiling hot water.
Step 3: Soak for 6-8 hours…
Step 4: Using gloves, remove the piece from the jar and discard the liquid (its going to be stinky, just a heads up). Run hot water in the sink and rinse the piece. The corrosion will slip off and out of the other end. For extra scrubbing, use q-tips. Once clean, allow to dry for at LEAST 2 days. If the piece is sticky on the outside, use a cotton ball soaked in acetone and remove the sticky parts, just be sure to wash it clean.
Step 5: Enjoy and conduct a deep clean at least once a month (depending on use)
